There are superfood lists all over cyberspace that talk about superfoods for weight loss, superfoods for fighting cancer, superfoods to turn back the clock on aging, foods to boost your immune system. How do you keep track of it all?
If you have a particular health problem, do a superfood search for that particular food and try to find ways to use it in as many of your frequently made recipes as possible. The easier it is to incorporate a food into your existing diet, the easier it’ll be to reap the benefits. Some foods are a bit on the obscure side and while they can do wonders for our health, it can be challenging to eat them. It’s a great idea to try new recipes but not everyone is adventurous so it can be wiser to try to work the food into your routine instead. Here are a few ideas:
- If it’s a sweet food or something that can be used as a thickener, add it to smoothies.
- If it’s a vegetable, add it to stews or soups or spaghetti sauce
- Purree it and add it to meatloaf
- Fruit can be added to trail mixes, muffin recipes and cereal
- stir fries are a great way to add interesting and colourful vegetables.
There are many super food lists. One of the key benefits of keeping up to date on this information is that you’ll be more likely to try new things and vary your diet. When making your shopping list, look at lists of foods that are extra good for you or that cover a specific health need that fits your life.
