Catabolic Dieting

May 6th, 2008 · No Comments

A catabolic food is something that burns more energy than it stores. As an illustration, a piece of fruit might have 60 calories in a serving but when you eat it, your body processes 80 calories by digesting it and therefore you are left with a caloric deficit of 20 calories as a result of eating it.

The jury is out on whether eating catabolic or negative calorie foods can truly help you lose weight in any great numbers but if you look at the caloric value and the fiber value of this list of foods, it’s easy to see that even without the catabolic argument, you will be eating a rainbow of colours, getting a massive amount of nutrition and will probably be so full from eating healthful foods that you’ll crave less junk food.  Eating negative calorie foods from the following list is definitely worth doing!

Here’s a list of catabolic or negative calorie foods:

apples, apricots, artichokes, asparagus, blackberries, blueberries, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage cantaloupe, cauliflower, celery, cranberries, cucumber, grape, grapefruit, honeydew melon, mango, mushrooms, oranges, peas, pomegranate, radish, rhubarb, strawberries, tangerines, tomatoes, watermelon.

Many of the foods on this list are highly recommended for many different ailments so eating catabolic foods in generous amounts can provide you with many health benefits including weight loss.
