When You Fall Off The Dieting Wagon…

Published by danaprince at 10:33 pm under Diet, Food Edit This

On holidays like Mother’s Day it can be tricky to stay on a diet. Family brunches, going out to eat or being given treats as a gift can throw off your plan for eating well or minimizing your caloric intake.  How do you manage it?

A good rule of thumb is to stay on track and make plans to make healthy choices if you’re going out to eat. If you’re determined not to cheat, go for small portions to try to keep things on track.

What if you can’t resist temptation?  Go ahead and splurge once in a while. Many say that cheating on your diet can actually be a good thing once in a while. If you’ve been dieting for quite a while, you might have plateaued anyway and diets such as the Zig Zag Diet (aka Fat Loss 4 Idiots) suggests that eating high calories once in a while when doing low cal dieting can help you trick your metabolism into staying in high gear because it can’t judge whether to hoard food or not.

So if you indulged today in a box of chocolates or cookies or a second helping of a nice meal, don’t fret. Get back on track tomorrow. You might even have done yourself some good by having a cheat day.

Happy Mother’s Day to all Moms out there.
