Don’t Be Fooled By Your Fast Food Choices

Published by danaprince at 10:14 am under Diet, Food, Healthy Living Edit This

Some people fancy themselves smart when they make certain food choices in fast food restaurants or the drive-thru. Did you think that ordering a chicken sandwich instead of a Big Mac would mean you’re eating better? Think again.

Big Mac:540 calories

Premium Crispy Chicken Club Sandwich: 580 calories

Do you think you’re doing a better job when going for a submarine sandwich than a burger? How much mayo and cheese is on that sandwich?  When you choose chicken, is it breaded and presented with a sweet or creamy dipping sauce on the side? Don’t forget to count caloric value of condiments!

A salad is a great alternative  instead of fries but not if you order a ceasar salad which is essentially lettuce, yes but the bacon, cheese, croutons and the dressing make it as good for your heart as a big slab of red meat.

Yikes! After I caught a look at the calories on a scrawny, little cheeseburger from McD’s (I think it was 380? Maybe just 300), I work off the assumption that anything I get fast food will be bad for me.

I only do fast food when I’m hungry for it, though. If I just need food fast, I call ahead to some place that makes normal food and pick up, or scrounge around the house.

Ever since I caught a look at the calories on one of McD’s scrawny, little cheeseburgers, I work off the assumption that anything, I get fast food will be bad for me. I generally only order fast food when that’s what I’m craving. I keep Kashi frozen pizzas and Amy’s tv dinners for the “I’m just hungry” moments.
