The Trans-Fat Free Veil
By advertising something is trans-fat free, some advertisers have lulled people into a false sense of healthfulness. Just because something is trans-fat free does not mean it’s good for you!
Don’t suddenly supersize your fries because your local fast food restaurant says “Trans-Fat Free!” In trying to fill your plate half full with veggies, don’t think fries qualify. We all enjoy some crispy fries and gravy or ketchup once in a while but many experts suggest you just have one ‘cheat’ day a week. Some say to stay away from fast food altogether. Trans fats are bad for you but so are some other kinds of fats like saturated fats!
Opt for healthy fat but still keep it at a manageable level otherwise you’ll increase your caloric intake and put your health at risk.
Good fats with limits:
extra virgin olive oil
flaxseed oil
organic coconut oil
avocado
whole milk
Good fat is good for your brain and your health but overdo it and you’ll gain weight.
